NLF History

On December 21,2003, a spirit-led dream of Dr. Maurice Pugh came to life. It was to establish a church that would exemplify an Acts 2 church, a body of believers who were genuine toward one another, serious about worship and committed to both their own spiritual growth and sharing their faith with others. On that day, 40 adults and children held South Arlington Community Church's (SACC) 1st worship service.

For the first 3 years, the leadership worked to build a team to lay the foundation of the church by 1st creating a Sunday morning worship experience where both believers and unbelievers could participate in a creatively unique worship service. Next the focus was on expanding the ministry outside of the church into the local community through partnerships with local schools. By the end of 2006, SACC had expanded outreach further by hosting a mission trip to Africa, providing training to Rwandan Pastors and Bibles to their churches. Church members also played a part in helping families affected by Hurricane Katrina.

By 2007, with 14 acres of land purchased for a future campus, the church turned its focus toward establishing a clear path for spiritual growth for the congregation and ensuring the church's reach would not be limited by name. Thus, Pastor Pugh led a strategic team in re-evaluating and updating the church's strategies and objectives and New Life Fellowship was born. "New Life" represents the result of one's faith in Christ and "fellowship" represents the interaction of the family of God.

Today, New Life Fellowship enjoys a membership of over 300 adult members committed to fulfilling the Great Commission of making disciples for Christ.
